Finishing Strong

Posted on May 23, 2022 by Madison Martin

What to do once your auction is over

When an online storage auction ends, there are still steps to be taken before the unit can be claimed. From getting invoices to making sure you are driving to the right facility; both the buyers and sellers have steps to follow at the end of the storage auction.

We have compiled these tips to help both our sellers and buyers make it through the finish line of your online storage auction!

End of Auction Tips & Tricks – Sellers:

Gathering your Invoices

  • All your invoices can be found in one location: your Auctions tab!
    • First, go to your Auctions tab under your StorageAuctions.com account.
    • Once there, you should see a red button in the top left-hand side of that screen labeled “View Ended Auctions.”
    • Once you have selected that button, you will see the auction that just ended. At this point, go to the right side of that auction event, clicking the green “More Actions” button and then select “View/Edit.”
    • Now, you will see all the units that just sold in your auction event. Next to each unit you should have the option to download that unit’s invoice.
  • If you do not have the ability to download that invoice, and you have permission set up within your account to do so, then the bidder has not paid those initial bidder fees.
  • Bidders have up to 24 hours to pay for these fees, however, do not give the unit to the bidder until you have received his or her invoice.

Collecting the Remaining Balance

  • When the bidder arrives at your facility, the invoice will break down exactly what the bidder owes to your facility under “Amount Owed to Facility”
  • This is also the time when the bidder will put down the cleaning deposit set up by your facility’s auction terms!

End of Auction Tips & Tricks – Buyers:

Be sure your initial bidder fees have been processed on the card you have on file

  • On StorageAuctions.com, once you win a unit, the card you have on file with us will be charged a 10% payment of the auction price and a $10 minimum or 15% buyer’s premium.
  • You have 24 hours to process these fees. Before you pick up your unit, these fees will need to be handled and paid with the card you have on file.

Check out your invoice

  • Your invoice will be generated after you have paid your initial bidders fees. The easiest way to find your invoice is by checking your “My Invoices” tab within your StorageAuctions.com account.
  • our invoice will break down the remaining fees owed to the facility, including sales tax if you are in a state that requires it to be charged.
  • Some facilities require you to have a printed copy of your invoice, so printing your invoice is never a bad idea!

Call up that facility

  • Calling the facility allows you to find out more essential information such as the facility’s hours, the exact location, and other helpful information regarding that specific facility’s terms!

Go pick up that unit!

  • Remember, you must pick up your unit within the allotted amount of time set by the facility, so be sure not to let time get away from you.
